ALPHA is a place to explore the Christian faith with others in a friendly and relaxed environment over a meal over 7 weeks. It's a series of videos and conversations focused on the questions of life, faith, and meaning. Each session includes a time to connect with others, hear a talk on some element of faith, and then a chance for people to share their own questions and perspectives with the group. If you want to just listen that's ok too. We create a non-judgmental and open environment where it's easy for anyone who is atheist, skeptic, or simply curious about faith to explore questions of life with new friends.
If you're interested to join us or would like to bring a guest please register your/ their place here so we can plan ahead re catering.
The first week- 19 January will be an introduction evening and you are very welcome to come along to hear more and then decide if you would like to attend further. Please do register your place.
Hi there, we are excited to have your child join us on Sunday mornings in 2025. Our group is overseen by myself, Emma Reid and is made possible by our most wonderful volunteer team.
Our Sundays consist of a structured yet flexible routine so that children get a sense of 'what's next?' and can experience a sense of safety.
We begin with a fun and engaging introduction activity which links to the topic / story of that Sunday, following this is a short introduction to the main teaching/ story- we use animated video clips or storytelling, then we have Q & A time which involves interaction time over the content in younger and older groups and we encourage all children to participate and learn together thinking about the content, what it teaches them about God and how it applies to their lives. Then it's onto a craft or activity which links to the topic/ story of the day. The purpose of these are for fun but also to assist children in recalling what they have learn't and to take them home as a tool for reflection and retelling.
We also have a small nurture space available with free play activities for those children who might find concentrating for the whole session a challenge or who just need some down time or a smaller environment. This happens within our space so the children are always able to rejoin the main group.
We begin 2025 with a series through the book of Exodus (following on from lasts years series through Genesis)- the children are already very engaged in learning all about the life of Moses.
Then we round off our time with some active worship movement songs- always a highlight and then we close with small groups of prayer where we are able to encourage children to grow in this area by praying, sharing and participating in talking to God, hearing from Him and praying for others.
We have a WhatsApp group for parents so that we can keep you up to speed with things and each week we send out a message that updates you on what we have done on the Sunday and how you can interact with your child further on the same topics/ story at home- we use and encourage using the SOAP method with children which is a simple Bible reading tool and stands for scripture, observation, application and prayer (this can be applied to any scripture when you are reading the Bible with them at home).
We are excited for all that God has in store for our Adventure Kid's in 2025 as they grow in their faith this year!
Please also feel free if you have any questions about how to nurturing your child's spiritual walk or if they come up with questions or show a keen to learn more about a particular story/ book/ topic- be in touch!
Please sign up for 2025 so that we are able to keep our database records up to date.
